Quilted car?!!

Yes, it will be a quilted car! Lorain County Piecemakers Quilt Guilt is creating a quilted car for their fall quilt show in October. And next year we'll use it in conjunction with the Artist As Quiltmaker  show in Oberlin ...
Yesterday was the third day we met at the Main Street Community Center in Downtown Amherst to work on the quilted car. We had so much fun! I'd say we're probably about half way done with the project. We still have to add the screening and the binding and some minor adjustments for completion. I'll keep you posted.... thank you ladies! ....

  1. Love the idea of a car quilt! Are you actually going to quilt the blocks or just use them as is? How long has it taken you. One of the gals in my small group would like us to do a car and then drive it in the county Labor Day parade. Are there directions online? Good luck.

    1. Bonnie, I actually quilted panels (blocks that we put together to make the panels) and then we fitted them at the last workshop. We started this back in May and had get-togethers every couple of weeks or so to work on piecing the blocks into the panels. I put a call out to my guild for orphan blocks and went from there. It's been so much fun! This will eventually be driven in a parade in Oberlin Ohio for the Artist As Quiltmaker at F.A.V.A. (firelands association for the visual arts)It's mostly for our guild show in October.
I didn't find any directions on line....I'm told there are only four of these in the country.
